Introducing...All About Reading!

Are you an All About Spelling fan?

Are you getting ready to launch a pre-reading program with your four- or five-year old (or even a very word-smart, motivated three-year old)?

If so, you should know about the new reading program released today by All About Spelling creator, Marie Rippel!

As Marie explains in today's press-release, "Our new All About Reading program is unique because it begins with Level Pre-1 for preschoolers and kindergarteners, and it focuses on what we call the Big Five Skills. These five fundamental pre-reading skills include letter knowledge, phonological awareness, print awareness, listening comprehension, and motivation to read. It is this specific set of skills that helps pre-readers understand the basics of language and how it works, preparing them to learn to read.

"With All About Reading Level Pre-1, your child will play special games, enjoy little crafts, and engage in charming storytime activities--all the while absorbing these all-important Big Five Skills."

Having used All About Spelling with great success for almost three years now and after looking at the All About Reading samples today, I am duly impressed and am confident the program will do wonders for any preschooler or kindergartner at the beginning of his journey into literacy. In fact, I really wish this Pre-1 program had been around when my daughters and older daycare children were three and four because I would have jumped at it in a heartbeat. All are beyond this level now, but I'll be waiting with anticipation to see if Level 1 comes out in time to help my now 4.5-year old daycare girl in the fall. And All About Reading Level Pre-1 will definitely be on my wish-list for when my two current daycare babies are ready for pre-reading.

To celebrate the launch of the program, Marie is offering some special deals through next week Monday, March 7:
  • Two free activity e-books, In the Kitchen with Zigzag Zebra and Safari Stories with Zigzag Zebra, both of which provide wonderful age-appropriate, literacy-related activities and supplement the actual curriculum as well;

Download the e-books and take a look at the curriculum samples. If the program seems "pricey" to you, remember that - as with all of Marie's products - nearly everything is non-consumable and can, thus, be used with multiple children over the course of several years. In that way, it'll pay for itself. But, more importantly, you want to be sure with all literacy skills that you use solid, child-friendly, research-based materials, and I can attest from my own experience that Marie's work more than fits the bill in that regard.
