The Girls' September Essays

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about the change the girls and I have made in regards to their composition lessons. As part of the new program, they do a lot of freewriting and then choose one freewrite each month to work up into a publishable piece.

Rachel continues to publish her monthly essays on her blog, posting her September entry, A Time to Dream, a couple of days ago.

As for Abbie, she composed another delightful legend. She doesn't currently have another venue for sharing her work, so I'll do that here:
The Rainbow
Once there was a rainbow. She was the only rainbow in the world, but she was distraught because she was completely transparent.
So she went to The Great Creator one day and asked him if there was a way to make her visible. The Creator took pity on her and told her to go to the end of the world and wait.
She did as she was told, but nothing happened so she cried for 40 days and 40 nights until there were no more tears. Then the sun came out and dried her tears away and she noticed that she was every one of the vibrant colors of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Eight people on earth were staring in awe, and those people stood with an ark behind them.
